This Officer, Mr. Campbell, was successful in obtaining an undertaking from the Viceroy that my demand would be met, and I thereupon agreed to the following terms of settlement.
1. Removal of Admiral Ho from office to be obtained by a Memorial to the Throne by the Viceroy.

3. The murderer Cheung Cho-ting to be executed in the presence of a Consular Officer.
4. A letter to be sent by the Viceroy through His Majesty's Consul-General at Canton conveying an apology for the infringement of the territorial rights of the Colony.
